“1‑Click‑Off” is Pieter Walser’s reinvention of a personal vineyard story. Sourced from a single young Pinot Noir plot in Elgin, the 2023 vintage follows the ups and downs of the site—symbolically named after being "one click off" the perfect vision. This Swartland‑makes‑Elgin Pinot is approachable, fruit‑forward, and elegantly crafted at 13.5% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Bright red berries—strawberry and raspberry coulis—underpinned by subtle spice and earthy nuances, with a teasing hint of herbal complexity from 15% whole-bunch fermentation.
Palate: Medium-bodied, silky tannin structure supports vibrant red fruit layers. Refreshing acidity balances a subtle minerality, with light oak framing from 40% new barrels.
Finish: Clean, nuanced finish with lingering red fruit, a whisper of spice, and gentle earth tones. Opens beautifully with 30 minutes decanting.
Serving Suggestions: Serve at 14–16 °C in a Burgundy-style glass. Great with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risottos, soft cheeses, or lightly spiced dishes.
