The Rall Noa Chenin Blanc 2025 is Donovan Rall's flagship single-vineyard Chenin Blanc, produced from a remarkable 2.1-hectare dry-farmed vineyard planted in 1969 on the granite soils of the Paardeberg in the Swartland. Named after Donovan's youngest daughter, Noa, this tiny-production wine has quickly become one of South Africa's most coveted Chenin Blancs, celebrated for its precision, minerality and exceptional ageing potential.
Crafted with minimal intervention, Noa is fermented and matured to preserve the vineyard's unique expression. The granite soils impart incredible freshness and salinity, while the old vines deliver remarkable concentration and texture. Rather than relying on overt fruit or oak, the wine is driven by purity, tension and site expression, placing it firmly among South Africa's elite Chenin Blancs.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Bright straw gold with subtle green highlights.
Nose: Expressive aromas of lemon zest, yellow apple, white peach and quince are layered with chamomile, beeswax and delicate floral notes. Hints of crushed granite, fennel and citrus blossom add impressive complexity.
Palate: Exceptionally focused and vibrant. Flavours of ripe citrus, crisp pear and stone fruit are wrapped around a beautifully textured palate, balanced by lively acidity and a pronounced saline minerality. Notes of lanolin, white pepper and wet stone add depth while preserving the wine's remarkable freshness.
Finish: Long, precise and mineral-driven with lingering citrus, white peach, subtle spice and a beautifully chalky, saline finish.
