Dom Pérignon Rosé is what happens when Dom Pérignon decides subtlety can wait.
Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 is a richer, more vinous interpretation of the legendary Champagne house's style, combining the precision and minerality of Dom Pérignon with the power, structure and red-fruit intensity of Pinot Noir.
The 2009 is composed of 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay, including 13% still red Pinot Noir sourced from Hautvillers, Aÿ and Bouzy. Unlike a simple pink Champagne, this addition isn't merely about colour, it introduces tannin, structure and a distinctly vinous character to the finished wine.
The vintage itself was warm and generous. After a slow beginning to the growing season, a warm, dry August allowed the grapes to achieve excellent ripeness before harvest began in September. That generosity is immediately apparent in the finished wine: ripe strawberry, raspberry, cherry and pomegranate meet blood orange, apricot and fig, with layers of spice, toast and smoke developing underneath.
And then Dom Pérignon did what Dom Pérignon does: waited.
The Rosé spent at least 12 years ageing on its lees before release, with the 2009 disgorged in March 2022 at a low dosage of just 5g/L. That extended maturation brings remarkable complexity without sacrificing the wine's vibrant fruit.
The result is powerful, creamy and seductive, but there's enough acidity, chalky minerality and gentle tannic grip to keep all that ripe fruit firmly under control.
This is not simply Dom Pérignon that's been made pink.
It's an entirely different beast.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Luminous copper-pink to salmon with delicate amber highlights and an exceptionally fine, persistent mousse.
Nose: Immediately expressive, with raspberry, strawberry and ripe cherry followed by blood orange, pomegranate and fig. Rose petals and dried flowers emerge alongside saffron, subtle spice, toasted brioche and gentle smoky notes.
Palate: Broad, creamy and beautifully concentrated. Ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry mingle with apricot, pomegranate and candied blood orange. Fine tannins from the still Pinot Noir give the wine additional structure, while toast, spice and mineral notes develop beneath the generous fruit.
Finish: Long, saline and persistent. Red fruit and citrus gradually give way to smoke, chalk, subtle spice and a beautifully controlled bitter note that keeps the finish fresh and remarkably precise.

Food Pairing
This is considerably more substantial than your average rosé Champagne, so don't be afraid to give it some serious food.
Lobster, seared tuna, salmon, duck breast, roast pigeon, scallops, charcuterie and dishes involving figs or red fruit can all work beautifully. The combination of ripe Pinot fruit, acidity and subtle tannin makes it particularly impressive with richer dishes that might overpower a more delicate Champagne.
It also works exceptionally well on its own.
At this price, adding orange juice would constitute a criminal offence.
Why It's Worth a Look
Dom Pérignon Rosé 2009 sits in an interesting position.
It's unquestionably luxurious, but there's serious winemaking substance behind the famous name. The inclusion of still Pinot Noir gives it structure and depth, while more than a decade of lees ageing adds layers of toast, pastry and savoury complexity.
