In June 2020, right after the Covid Liquor ban, Mothercity Liquor sent out their first online order. From a small liquor store on Kloof Street in Cape Town's CBD we began picking, packing and dispatching orders behind a closed door in what used to be our Liquor store just a few months prior.
Our team has grown tremendously since then. We now pride ourselves on being one of South Africa's premier online liquor destinations, with a passion for quality drinks we are on a journey to find and share different tastes and flavours with our ever growing community of like minded drinks enthusiasts. Our site is tailored to speciality drinks and we've curated collections in each category focusing on drinks producers that are as passionate as we are. We have over 10 000 different products available for convenient and safe delivery anywhere in South Africa.
We have an experienced and dynamic team that will assist you with all your needs. With many years of experience in the liquor industry, working in bottle stores, distributions, events, restaurants, bars etc. You name it we've been there.
In 2023 Mothercity Liquor won The African Excellence Award for Best Online Liquor Retailer in SA which signaled a massive step forward for us as a business, giving recognition to the hard work and rapid growth we've achieved in the E-Commerce space.
Looking ahead our aim is to continue to learn, grow and share new and different experiences with our community of drinks enthusiasts. We're on a journey of continuous improvement and we hope this shows through our services to our clients.
A brief History
After years of experience in the liquor trade, Mothercity Liquor was established in December 2017, the journey began in a small store on Kloof Street in the heart of Cape Town's CBD.
Our goal was to create a store that offers exceptional customer service with an experience that left customers walking out feeling appreciated and welcomed! We worked hard to obtain the best deals and remain competitive within the liquor market, while keeping our focus on our customer service.
Since opening the first store in 2017, we gradually expanded - opening another 2 stores by 2019. During this time we also began working on an online store.
In 2020, the Covid-19 Pandemic hit and we ended up having to sell our Sea Point store and thereafter made a massive effort to push forward in the e-Commerce space, focusing a lot more on our online platform. We've kept our same goal in mind and continue to work towards offering our customers the best possible service, finding the best deals, rare finds and exciting new products.
In February 2021, we made the decision to take our business completely online. We sold our last remaining physical store and moved our operations to a new warehouse where we pick, pack and send out our orders!
